HARARE – One of SA’s biggest house music producers DJ Shimza who is riding high on the music scene will tonight perform at Club Connect in Bulawayo.
The DJ comes after his fellow countrymen DJ Tira and Distruction Boys visited the same club last year where they had full houses with parties spilling well into the morning.
A spokesperson for Club Connect said this show is one of many planned for the joint. “After successful shows with DJ Tira and Distruction Boys last year, we have given ourselves to bring more of the top DJs in South Africa.”
DJ Shimza produced the popular hit single I’ll be back. He started his music career at the Soul Candi Academy and has released two CD compilations titled SA House Chart and Next Big Thing which are currently dominating nightclubs.
Ashley Raphala aka DJ Shimza was born in Tembisa and started DJaying at an early age of 14, on his first day in Grade 8.
Shimza’s signature sound is “Afro-tech” and his big break was when he won the Betrams Next Big Thing competition, which was aired on Channel O.
Shimza has travelled to several countries such as Mexico, Labadie, United States of America and the UK, displaying his musical talents.
In 2013, Shimza signed with Black Coffee’s Soulistic Music. His musical inspiration is Black Coffee, as he believes that he’s had a huge impact on house music in the country.
The thing he loves the most about being a DJ is travelling and meeting new people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Sulu descends on Nyamapanda
DENDERA music star Suluman Chimbetu will perform at Dzekaz Gazebo in Nyamapanda tonight. He will share the stage with dancer Zoey Sifelani of Red Angels. On Saturday, the Sean Timba hit maker will showcase at Murehwa Cocktail Bar located at Murewa Centre. He will be supported by rising sungura musician Tatenda Pinjisi.
On Sunday, Chimbetu will return to Norton where he will perform at Liquid Bar in Katanga together with Pinjisi.
Young Igwe dates Mhangura
SUNGURA musician Peter Moyo also known as Young Igwe in showbiz will perform at 7 Million Club in Mhangura on Saturday.
While tonight, he will showcase at Mhizha Night Club in Harare’s Budiriro 4 suburb.
Xtra Large, Trevor D in Gokwe
URBAN groovers Xtra Large popular with their hit song Maroja will share the stage with Trevor Dongo at Club Junior in Gokwe tonight.
The musicians will be supported by DJ Shabba.

Winky D unveils Gombwe
ALL is set for Winky D’s album Gombwe launch to be held at the 4 500-seater Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) tonight in the capital.
The launch, for the album will also double up as the Ninja President’s birthday bash.
Winky D’s manager Jonathan Banda said they are ready to deliver a good show.
“All is now in place for the event. The team is ready to deliver and it is of paramount importance to not that we are not going to HICC with the intention of filling it to capacity but just to party.
“Even if the event is attended by two people, to us it is okay and that will not stop us from delivering top act. If we manage to fill the HICC tomorrow then it will be a bonus,” Banda said.
On the event, Winky D will share the stage with Buffalo Soul Jah, Andy Muridzo, Killer T, Sam Dondo, Judgement Yard, Boom Berto, Jah Signal, Takura, Lipsy, Garry Tight, Vabati VaJehovah, Ricky Fire, Kinnah, Merciless and Poptain among others.
According to the self-proclaimed Gafa, the new album will be a cocktail of his views on a variety of issues.
“The long-awaited new album titled Gombwe carries my sensations, perceptions and prescribed actions for past, present and future Gafa life,” Winky D said in a Facebook post.
Time and Jazz hosts Chrissy B, Caramel
THE above Harare joint run by music promoter Josh Hozheri is hosting the Tariro hit maker and Caramel tomorrow.
The Rudo Runetariro hit maker left the country around 2006 for South Africa only to return last year.
“I have come to revive the urban grooves music. I am ready to turn the tables,” he said.
Chrissy B was ushered into limelight thanks to his timeless hit Rudo Runetariro off his debut and only studio album Ndiri Kutsvaga Ndichishaiwa.
“I have managed to build huge fan base courtesy of ragga-urban grooves music hence I am not going to migrate from the genre for the sake of my loyal fans,” he said.
Born in Kadoma and grew up in Harare, Chrissy B is expected to sample new tracks off his forthcoming and second studio album which is expected on the market shelves next month.
“The album Marwadzo Erudo, is made up of eight tracks,” he said.
Songs on the forthcoming project include Kubvira Paye, Upenyu Hwangu, Kamukana, Unondivengerei and Ndine Tariro among others.
