FC PLATINUM fullback Gift Bello has signed a new one-year deal to extend his stay at Mandava.
The 30-year-old defender’s previous deal with FC Platinum expired last month and he was expected to bring his three-year-long association with the club to an end.
However, after consultations between the former Dynamos defender, Coach Norman Mapeza and the club’s hierarchy, the club has renewed terms.
“I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I am committed here through and through.
“I am looking forward to next season under Mapeza and hopefully we can make it a successful one.
“Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support in good and bad times. They are the best in the world.”
At 31, Bello still aspires to play for “five more years”.
“It’s possible. I still feel good. I can go for three or more years. I can get to five years. Why not? I am eyeing five more years and I believe I am getting better with age.”
The club’s spokesperson Chido Chizondo said: “We are delighted Gift will spend another year at the club. He has been the leader for our defenders. He was part of the senior squad throughout the successful periods in our history.
“It’s not about age. He is mentally strong, and also good for the younger people. To inspire them.
“His conduct is testament to his professionalism and dedication as well as his undoubted talent.”
Meanwhile players like Raphael Muduviwa and Petros Mhari have renewed contracts with FC Platinum for the next two years.
