TWO 18-YEAR-OLDS have been arrested for allegedly stabbing another man with a knife after a misunderstanding over maize.
Tinotenda Chibarinya and Sean Karimandira of Epworth appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa charged with attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
They were remanded in custody to January 30 as the State strongly opposed bail arguing that they are not first offenders.
The duo allegedly stabbed one Zivanai Pitilosi after he refused to give them the maize they wanted.
Allegations are that on January 13 this year at around 5pm, the two visited Zivanai who was at his place of residence and asked him for maize.
The State alleges that Zivanai refused and this did not go well with the boys who then started to assault him.
Tinotenda is alleged to have grabbed Zivanai from behind trying to tackle him down.
Zivanai is alleged to have tried to free himself but Tinotenda produced a knife and stabbed him once on the left rib.
As if this was not enough, he went on to threaten that he was going to kill and force him to vacate his place of residence, the State alleges.
Sean is said to have intervened and assaulted Zivanai with a brick on the back.
Zivanai is alleged to have tried to save himself by running inside his house but the teenagers forced themselves in by breaking the door.
In a separate incident a man from Epworth appeared in court on allegations of murdering another man who he suspected to be a thief when he found him in his room.
It is alleged that the now deceased tried to flee, but Tendai Nyamudahondo, 37, in the company of others who are still at large chased and assaulted him.
Nyamudahondo appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa charged with murder.
He was advised to approach the High Court for bail and was remanded in custody to January 30.
Sebastian appeared for the State in both matters.
