CAPS UNITED new boy Ronald ‘Ronald’ Chitiyo says he is happy with the preparations they are having ahead of the Champions league tie against Lioli of Lesotho in a fortnight.
The Green Machine played Zambian giants Zanaco FC yesterday as they continue their bid to fight amongst Africa’s best in the champion’s league.
After a lengthy spell without continental football, Makepekepe return with great momentum after a league triumph in 11 years.
Chitiyo says they are ready to play in Africa but it is important that they don’t underestimate their opponents.
“We are ready but we don’t have to underestimate our opponents beacaue there is no lo0nger small boys in football these days.
“We are committed to doing well for the club and hope we can repay our supporters’ faith in us,” he said.
The attacking midfielder said winning a league title with CAPS will be amongst his targets ahead of the 2017 season but the main focus is the champion’s league.
“Like we have been saying, the champion’s league remains our target now because we play in a few weeks’ time but the league is also important.
“Winning games is what we want, the coaches and players are focused on getting the job done,” he added.
Makepekepe will play Lioli in the CAF Champions league preliminary round tie on the weekend of 10-12 February.
Reigning CAF Confederations cup champions TP Mazembe await the winner of that CAPS/Lioli fixture which would be a tough test for the Zimbabwean Champions if they manage to skip that first hurdle.
