THE relationship between musicians Suluman Chimbetu and Jah Prayzah was again brought into question following Sulu’s help of the latter’s ‘rebels’.
On Thursday, Sulu provided the public address system in support of the launch of Baba Harare (former Jah Prayzah’s guitarist) debut album at Jazz 24/7.
Sulu also took Baba Harare for his Friday outing at Tanza Centre in Chitungwiza which marked as his debut show as a musician.
Further, on Saturday, Sulu took on board another Jah Prayzah defector, Gonyeti for his show at Mushandirapamwe Hotel in Highfield.
Sulu also featured on Gonyeti’s debut album.
This has raised questions of many music followers who feel the dendera musician could be one of those itching for a Jah Prayzah collapse.
Sulu’s camp has however laughed at the claims, describing it as pub talk.
His publicist Joe ‘Local’ Nyamungoma said they are open to work everyone whether upcoming or established all for the good of music.
He said they enjoy cordial working relationship with Jah Prayzah’s camp describing word that they might be fuelling his demise as malicious.
“This is highly malicious and meant to cause unnecessary war between our camps. We do not have anything against Jah Prayzah, in fact we work well together. He has featured on our previous works and recently he was Sulu’s best man at his wedding and that alone shows you the kind of relationship we have.
“We help a lot of artistes whether upcoming or established. These upcoming guys approach us many times for us to help them and I do not see anything bad about that. We have helped a lot of guys before, this is our job.
“Baba Harare has a song with Macheso, does it mean Baba Sharo is up to no good? Like I said, this is just pub talk,” said Local.
This is not the first time that the two musicians’ relationship has been questioned with some suggesting that Sulu is getting jealous of Jah Prayzah’s purple patch.
“Sulu has been there for Jah when he started and he cannot be seen to be trying to sabotage him today. We have no time for that,” added Local.
However both camps have on numerous times denied the existence of a rift.
