Man steals from neighbour

A 35-YEAR- OLD man has been nabbed for unlawfully entering his neighbour’s house and stealing cash and goods amounting to US$359 in Galloway.

Munyaradzi Chidemo pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Norton magistrate Never Diza charged with unlawful entry.

In addition, he was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment before nine were suspended on condition of good behaviour.

The remaining three months shall be effective.

The state, represented by Besta Chihombori, told the court that on March 16 at around 1pm, Shekede and family left for town leaving the house intact, windows and doors locked.

At around 2pm Chidemo went to Shekede’s house and opened a closed window and forced entry inside the house to steal 10kgs mealie meal, 500 grammes washing powder from the kitchen cupboards, US$300 which was in the lounge and a cellphone which was on the charger.

He was then seen holding something in his hands by Nyasha Shekede when he was coming from school and he fled into the maize field.

A search was conducted at his house and led to the recovery of 2kg mealie meal and 500 grammes washing powder.

The total value stolen is US$359 and US$3 was recovered.
