THE 2017 Basketball Union of Zimbabwe inter-provincial tournament has been rescheduled to mid-April.
The Inter-Provincial tournament had been slated for this weekend but will now be held on the weekend of April 15 and 16 with the host city, Kadoma, remaining unchanged.
BUZ secretary general Joe Mujuru told H-Metro that they were forced to suspend the tournament to pave way for the Zimbabwe Universities Sports Associations games.
“The Inter-pros were moved because they clashed with ZUSA games. After we saw that we just decided and thought to move the games to 15 and 16 April,” he said.
Nine out of 10 provinces have already confirmed their participation at the Inter Provincials with only Mashonaland Central yet to state their position.
Harare, Bulawayo and Midlands provinces will provide four teams each while Manicaland, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East and Masvingo will send two teams each.
The BUZ Inter-Provincials will feature senior male and female teams as well as Under 16 boys and girls teams.
The rescheduling of the BUZ Inter-Provincials will give provinces more time to camp and prepare for a massive showdown that will see the best basketball provinces in the country take to the court.
Meanwhile, the Harare Basketball Association leagues resume this Saturday after clubs took part in the Bob 93 tournament last week.
