STIX IN A FIX

BLACK Rhinos coach Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa admits that he has to try and see how they can recondition captain Bruce Homora and right back Jameson Mukombwe.

Mukombwe’s Cosafa campaign was marred by an injury while Homora also suffered a head injury and was dropped from the CHAN team.

With Sidney Linyama also suffering from an injury at some point in the absence of those two, Rhinos were left to field three new players in their back four and that slowed down their momentum.

They have however since turned the corner in the absence of those players and are top of the log.

“We have to see how far Mukombwe has gone with his recovery. We are also to see how serious was Homora’s head injury.

“We really missed their services and with new players on the pitch, the team had to try and get used to each other again. You will remember that we really struggled in the match against Harare City but now it seems we are coming back again,” said Stix.

The Rhinos coach however still has time to assess his captain and right back player before they can restart their campaign again.

The log leaders’ morale is high after their last comprehensive 3-0 win and Stix believes those playing have proved themselves.

“It is never easy but now we have seen other options in the absence of those other players that remain important to us. So it is a boost that they are back and it increases our chances as we go on.

“With Sidney, there was a time he was suffering from stomach pains and then an injury and that sidelined him,” Stix said.
