ZAKA – A 23-year-old mental used an iron bar and a wooden log to bludgeon his father to death, police said Tuesday.
Police said via their social media handles that they have arrested the suspect in connection with the cold blooded murder.
“Police in Zaka have arrested a suspected mental patient, Arifas Chingwe (23) in connection with cold blood murder of his father, Garai Chingwe (46) on 28/01/23 at Makhadho Village,” police said.
“The father was found dead lying in a pool of blood with multiple deep cuts on the head near the family’s homestead. Police have so far recovered an iron bar and a wooden log used in the commission of the offence. #notocrime.”
The shock incident follows yet another murder on a father by two Harare brothers who ganged up to kill their parent whom they accused of witchcraft.
Police said Monday that they have arrested Bruce Chitaukire (47) and Changchu Chitaukire (43) for the “callous killing of their father, Solomon Tendai Chitaukire (73) whom they accused of witchcraft on 28/01/23 at the family’s home in Glen Norah A, Harare”.
The suspects’ mother, Faith Chitaukire, police said, had to seek refuge at a neighbour’s house, only to return the next morning and found the victim dead with multiple injuries all over the body.
