Bulawayo Chiefs 1-2 Bulawayo City fc
BULAWAYO City notched up their first win in the Chibuku Super Cup by pipping Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.
Two second-half goals by Tawanda Zinaka and Dalubuhle Dlodlo inspired City to a comeback win after going behind to a 22nd minute penalty converted by Billy Veremu.
The loss dashed the slightest hopes Chiefs had retained of making it to the quarter-finals and ensured Highlanders join Chicken Inn in the last eight.
Bosso sit on eight points, which City can’t surpass even if they win their last game of the group stage. City are on four points.
After going behind to a penalty midway through the opening half, the municipal side drew level in the 48th minute through Tawanda Zinaka, who fired home a pass from Welcome Ndiweni from inside the box.
Substitute Dalubuhle Dlodlo sealed victory for City in the 73rd minute, finishing off a good move initiated by man-of-the-match Arlton Ndlovu.
City survived a late scare after Chiefs were awarded another penalty deep into the second half.
Veremu stepped up again, but his spot kick was saved by City goalkeeper Bhekimpilo Ncube.
