Regina Chinamasa confirmed as new Zimra boss

HARARE – Acting Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) Commissioner General Regina Chinamasa is now the tax collector’s substantive boss following her elevation to the top job by the board.

Chinamasa’s new term starts 1 September 2022.

Before her latest promotion, Chinamasa was substantive Commissioner Revenue Assurance who started acting as Commissioner General from 1 February 2022.

The new Zimra chief is a tax expert with over 28 years of experience in the diverse field of revenue mobilisation customs, domestic taxes and enforcement of compliance to fiscal laws.

The Zimra board said during her time as Commissioner Revenue Assurance, Chinamasa introduced innovative and modern investigative and compliance systems that have helped plug revenue leakages in the country.

“She served in various leadership roles in the Domestic Taxes, Customs and Revenue Assurance divisions.

“The Board also believes that under the leadership of Regina Chinamasa, ZIMRA will scale to new heights while fulfilling its mandate of revenue collection and trade facilitation,” board chair Anthony Mandiwanza said.

The new Zimra boss is also expected to intensify the fight against rampant corruption within the state entity.
