HARARE – Caps United overturned a 2-0 first half upset to condemn old rivals Highlanders to a humiliating 3-2 defeat at Rufaro in a dramatic finish to the headline clash of the premiership’s Match Day 26 round of fixtures played across the country weekend.
Lynoth Chikuhwa put Bosso ahead after 21 minutes and went on to double the visitors’ advantage from the spot 10 minutes later.
William Manondo reduced the arrears for Caps United with two minutes left before the half time break.
With all seemingly headed for a 2-1 defeat of the home side, Junior Bunjira made it 2-2 after 90 minutes.
But the man who broke Highlanders’ hearts was Lot Chiwunga who struck 4 minutes into added time to condemn the Bulawayo giants to an embarrassing defeat.
In other fixtures, league leaders Simba Bhora beat TelOne 2-1 at Ascot to add impetus to their charge for a dream premiership title which now seems real with the fulfilment of each of the remaining fixtures before season end.
They are being aided by FC Platinum’s recent loss of form which saw the four-time in a row champions lose their clash to Manica Diamonds on Saturday.
The match between Chegutu Pirates and Bulawayo Chiefs ended 1-1 at Baobab while there were two goalless draws in matches played between Bikita Minerals and ZPC Kariba at Sakubva as well as Chicken Inn and Yadah at Luveve.
Simba Bhora remain perched at the top of the league table on 53 points from 26 matches played so far.
FC Platinum are second on 46 with Manica Diamonds third on 42.
Champions Ngezi Platinum lie fourth on 41 points but have 2 games in hand.
Meanwhile, Dynamos beat Botswana’s Orapa United 1-0 to give themselves a slender lead in the first leg of a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup second round clash played Sunday at Obed Itani Chulume Stadium in Francistown.
Valentine Kadonzvo broke the deadlock barely five minutes after he was introduced as a second half substitute after 83 minutes.
