Police offer ‘substantial monetary reward’ to arrest Guruve mass killer

HARARE – Police chief Stephen Mutamba has authorised a “substantial monetary reward” for information leading to the arrest of Anymore Zvitsva, who is wanted in connection with the murder of eight people in two separate incidents in Guruve.

The offer was announced by national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi as police confirmed the brutal killing of an elderly woman and a six-month-old baby in Guruve on December 18.

Police said they are, for now, not linking the latest murders to the fugitive suspect.

“The ZRP is offering a substantial monetary reward for anyone with credible information that leads to the location and subsequent arrest of murder suspect Anymore Zvitsva,” Nyathi said.

Zvitsva (32), who reportedly has mental health challenges, became a suspect following the massacre of five members of one family on December 11 at Plot 9, Ona Farm in Guruve. The victims included a 66-year-old woman and two children aged five and two.

Police also said Zvitsva is a person of interest in the killing of three other people in Zimuna Village, also in Guruve. The victims were identified as Pamela, Kudzai and Tawanda Chipangura.

The latest killings, which police have not yet linked to Zvitsva, occurred at Farm 88, Nyakapupu in Guruve, where a 55-year-old woman and a six-month-old baby were found dead with multiple head injuries.

Nyathi said the reward was authorised by Commissioner-General Mutamba and assured members of the public that anyone whose information leads to Zvitsva’s arrest would be “certainly rewarded.”

“Members of the public should not attempt to confront the suspect,” Nyathi warned. “Any sightings or information should be immediately reported to the police.”

The ZRP urged anyone with information to contact the National Complaints Desk on 0242 703631, WhatsApp 0712 800 197, or the Officer Commanding Guruve Police District, Chief Superintendent Marange, on 0719 010 093, or to report at any nearest police station.
