THE Zimbabwe national football team received a huge boost ahead of the remaining two matches of the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco following the recovery of the trio of former captain Knowledge Musona, Sean Fusire, and Divine Lunga.

The three players were unavailable for selection for the opening fixture against Egypt due to knocks. But there was good news in the camp on Wednesday when the Warriors held a full two-hour training session which ended at midday in Marrakech with almost all players involved in the drills.

However, defender Munashe Garananga sat out after he received a blow on his upper leg.

“The Zimbabwe Warriors held a full training session today from 1000hrs to 1200hrs, with strong intensity and positive energy evident throughout camp,” said ZIFA in a statement.

“All players were in attendance, with the sole exception of Munashe Garananga, who was unable to take part after sustaining a dead leg. His condition continues to be monitored by the medical team.

“Encouragingly, Knowledge Musona, Sean Fusire, and Divine Lunga, who were unavailable for selection in the match against Egypt due to injury, successfully completed the entire training session alongside the rest of the squad.

“Their full participation is a significant boost to the technical team, with all three players showing sharpness, confidence, and a clear readiness to return to competitive action.

“Overall, morale remains high in camp, competition for places is intense, and the group is fully focused as preparations continue for the next assignment against Angola in Marrakech.”

Zimbabwe, who suffered a heart-breaking 1-2 defeat to Egypt on Monday night, will play Angola in their second Group B match on Boxing Day, with both teams looking for a win to keep their chances of progressing to the knockout phase alive.
