ZANU PF has stepped in to provide a financial cushion to the Gatsi family following a horrific road carnage that claimed three family members along the Harare-Bindura Road.

In a profound show of Ubuntu and revolutionary solidarity, the party donated US$3 000 to cover funeral expenses, food and burial arrangements for the deceased, who perished in a head-on collision while on a mission to mourn a matriarch.

The tragedy struck as Pastor Ngoni Gatsi, his father Abel, and uncle Mike, were travelling to inform relatives of the passing of their mother and grandmother, Mbuya Revai Gatsi.

In a cruel twist of fate, the three siblings lost their lives before they could complete their mission of grief.

The donation was made by ZANU PF Central Committee member, Cde Kudakwashe Tagwirei, whose philanthropic gesture has been described as a reflection of the party’s commitment to community welfare.

Handing over the funds to the bereaved family in Harare on Thursday, ZANU PF Harare Provincial Chair, Cde Godwills Masimirembwa, said the governing party remains rooted in the people and sensitive to their plight during times of immense sorrow.

“We have been sent to deliver the donation made by ZANU PF Central Committee member Cde Tagwirei with the money for assistance during the funeral. We understand how challenging it is to lose a loved one. As ZANU PF, we mourn with you during this trying period,” said Cde Masimirembwa.

The compassionate intervention is a practical application of the philosophy championed by the Second Republic under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, which emphasises that no one and no place should be left behind, especially in times of tragedy.

“This gesture reflects President Mnangagwa’s commitment to supporting one another in times of hardship. Let us continue to support each other,” he said.

Cde Masimirembwa was accompanied by Harare Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Voyage Dambuza, and several other senior provincial members who came to offer their condolences.

The Gatsi family expressed their gratitude to the party and Cde Tagwirei, saying that the assistance would go a long way in ensuring a dignified send-off for their four departed relatives.
