THE Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association is actively engaging its structures across all 10 provinces regarding the proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill.
The Bill seeks to align election cycles with the country’s developmental goals and extend the presidential term from five to seven years to ensure continuity in policy formulation and national development.
In an interview, ZNLWVA secretary-general Cde Sam Parirenyatwa said they were committed to involving their membership across various districts.
“As war veterans, we are engaging our provinces, collecting information from district structures,” he said.
“These districts are convening to formulate recommendations on the proposed amendments.
“Their positions will then be relayed to the provincial structures, and subsequently to the national executive, where we will compile a comprehensive report.”
Cde Parirenyatwa added that the members have been educated on the contents of the Bill to ensure they understand its implications.
The Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill is expected to lead to more comprehensive policies that directly address the needs of the people, while facilitating the completion of major infrastructure projects such as road rehabilitation, dam construction and power generation initiatives under programmes like the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme and the Second Republic’s flagship developments.
Further, Zanu PF has formally submitted its resolutions to the Government, which have been presented to Parliament for consideration, reflecting the party’s commitment to constitutionalism and the rule of law.
Zanu PF is also engaging its party structures to educate members on the importance of the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill.
