BULAWAYO – Highlanders attacking midfielder Mongameli
Tshuma has been rewarded for his eye-catching start to the new season with his first call-up to the national team.
Tshuma, who joined Highlanders from Hwange during the offseason, was drafted in alongside Scottland defender Godknows Murwira, Hardrock forward Washington Navaya and Jarrison Selemani of FC Platinum after several withdrawals from the Warriors squad which is in camp ahead of a four-nation tournament in Botswana from March 28-31.
Knowledge Musona, Prince Dube, Thando Ngwenya and Tawanda Maswanhise all pulled out due to injuries.
Maswanhise’s Scottish club, Motherwell, said the striker “reported a small issue following Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Hibernian, and the player will remain in Scotland to manage the issue.”
The four-nation tournament will feature hosts Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
On Wednesday, the Warriors will play an exhibition match with Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium as part of Highlanders’ Centenary Celebrations.
