The accident involved a BRD Luxury Coaches bus travelling from Cape Town, South Africa, to Malawi.

The crash occurred near Suswe, at the 176 kilometre peg along the highway, at around 1PM, national police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi said.

The bus was carrying 63 passengers at the time of the accident.
