Bitter ex-wife and tenant hire hitmen to kill ex-husband

CHEGUTU, Zimbabwe – A woman and her tenant appeared in court Wednesday facing murder charges after they allegedly hired hitmen to kill her ex-husband, a local taxi operator.

Apirizi Sekai, 41, and Munyaradzi Munyaradzi, 24, were remanded in custody by the Chegutu Magistrates’ Court until July 30 and were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

Authorities allege Sekai approached Munyaradzi, her tenant, asking him to find someone to kill her ex-husband, Aleck Sinoia, with whom she had a long-running dispute over infidelity and property following their separation.

Munyaradzi is said to have contacted Cleopas Gomarara, who then enlisted a man only identified as Jefu and others still at large.

The suspects allegedly lured Sinoia by pretending they needed a ride to Chegutu Hospital. They reportedly ambushed him, deflated the car’s tyres and stabbed him multiple times before fleeing. The attackers allegedly received US$200 for the hit.

Police investigations are ongoing.
