Guti widow reveals she turned down Chivayo’s US$2 million, Land Cruiser

HARARE – ZAOGA Forward in Faith Archbishop Eunor Guti has disclosed that she turned down two major donations — a US$2 million cash offer and a luxury vehicle from controversial tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo.

Speaking during a recent church address, Guti, the widow of ZAOGA founder Ezekiel Guti, said she declined the US$2 million despite the church having pressing project needs.

“I said, uh-uh, thank you very much for the offer, but give it to others, not me,” she recounted. “There was no mind and will of God there… We have never seen our father receiving such kind of money — how can we start to do that?”

Guti said the offer had been discussed on social media, although she remained unaware of it until a man approached her, claiming to be sent by someone she had never met, pleading with her to accept the donation.

“I already have the Land Cruiser, I’ve been driving it all these years. How can I look for that?” she said. “I’m not going to take that money, not even on our projects, no, we don’t want that.”

She informed ZAOGA’s day-to-day board about the offers, making it clear that the church should not accept them.

“They better use it somewhere else — not even on our projects,” she said.

Chivayo, known for his extravagant donations to churches and public figures, has not publicly responded.
