HARARE – Champions FC Scottland opened the defence of their title with a scoreless draw away to newcomers Hardrock in Kwekwe on Sunday.
The league’s richest club failed to overcome Kelvin Kaindu’s obdurate side playing in the top flight for the first time at their brand spanking new ground – the Chahwanda Stadium.
Despite the league raising gate charges from $3 to $5 for the lowest ticket, the people of Kwekwe turned up in numbers at the 10-seater $10 million stadium.
At Ascot Stadium in Gweru, Dynamos came from a goal down to beat TelOne 2-1 in an early kick-off which had been postponed by 24 hours due to a waterlogged pitch.

Dynamos sealed all three points seven minutes before the break after TelOne goalkeeper Takudzwa Chikosi dwelt on a clearance before being dispossessed by Jairos Kasondo who slotted in the winner.
CAPS United will claim the honours of leading the table after the first round of games only by alphabetic order after they beat newly-promoted Agama 2-1 at Rufaro.
Ishamel Wadi noted United ahead after 12 minutes before the visited levelled eight minutes after the break.
Sixteen-year-old Alleny Mukombedzi won it for the hosts on 80 minutes just three minutes after his introduction.
At Barbourfields in Bulawayo, Highlanders needed a late penalty scored by Benjamin Adeogun to earn a point against Bulawayo Chiefs who led through Zibusiso Dambo’s 27th minute strike.
It was not the winning start Benjani Mwaruwari was hoping for in front of the home crowd, especially with a trip away to Dynamos up next.
