Highlanders stay in touch with leaders as Dynamos pick up rare victory

BULAWAYO – Marvin Sibanda converted a first half freekick and Peter Muduhwa turned in Highlanders’ second on 60 minutes as they claimed a dominant derby victory over Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields on Sunday.

The win lifted Kelvin Kaindu’s men to seven points of leaders FC Platinum, who drew 0-0 with title rivals Ngezi Platinum on Saturday.

Kevin Moyo scored a first half header as Dynamos bounced back from their defeat by Highlanders last week to beat Hwange 1-0 at the Colliery.

Sadney Urikhob was denied by the crossbar after meeting Valentine Kadonzvo’s cross with a firm header as Dynamos appeared to double their lead before the breather.

The Harare side survived a few late scares from Hwange to hold on for only their sixth win in 19 matches.

CAPS United lost 1-0 to Herentals to remain rooted in midtable on 23 points – 16 points adrift of leaders FC Platinum.
