BULAWAYO- Prominent businessman James Ross Goddard has dragged a Bulawayo property developer to court in a bid to recover over US$450,000.
Goddard, through his company JR Goddard Contracting, was engaged by Veluntina Investments to service 272 high density residential stands in Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo, charging close to $500,000 for the work.
The work involved paving roads, laying water pipes and sewer connections.
But in summons issued through the Bulawayo High Court, Goddard says Veluntina Investments – owned by former Zimbabwe Chamber of Commerce (Matabeleland Chapter) deputy chairman Crispen Mugova – has neglected to pay since the debt became due in 2023.
JR Goddard Contracting is asking the High Court for an order “for the payment of the sum of $451,550.33 being money owed by defendent (Ventura Investments).” The company is also demanding interest on the debt.
Ventura Investments has filed a notice to defend against the summons.
Mugova, who also runs Udine Products, declined to comment.
