Man arrested in Harare for trying to sell human foetus as beef

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in central Harare after he allegedly attempted to sell a human foetus, claiming it was beef.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said Stelly Marecha was taken into custody on July 4 after he allegedly picked the foetus, wrapped in a black plastic bag, from a bin at the corner of Mbuya Nehanda and Albion streets in the city center.

He then approached a 27-year-old man, offering the remains for sale as meat.

Marecha was arrested for violating a corpse, and investigations are ongoing.

Police are now appealing to the public for information that may lead to the arrest of the individual who disposed of the foetus.
