Mum and her 5 kids killed in Mvuma head-on collision

HARARE — A family of six — a mother and her five children — perished in a head-on collision along the Harare-Masvingo Road on Thursday morning, as the nation prepared for the Easter holidays.

Lilian Maranda Mujuru, 40, and her children Nokutenda, 15, Makanaka, 13, Ronald Junior, 11, Rufaro Shalom, 7, and Kayden, 3, all of Tynwald North, Harare, died when the Toyota Corolla they were travelling in collided head-on with a Mercedes Benz truck at the 246-kilometre peg near Mvuma at around 9.50AM.

The family had left their Tynwald North home for a church conference.
Ronald Mujuru, Lilian’s husband, had been waiting for a call confirming his family had arrived safely when police told him about the tragedy.

Transport Minister Felix Mhona visited the Mujuru family to console them.

Police also extended condolences to the bereaved family and appealed to drivers to exercise caution on the roads during the Easter and Independence holidays.
