HARARE – The owner of vicious pit bulls which killed a passerby last month has been denied bail.
Mike Mupinga, 40, will remain in custody awaiting trial on culpable homicide charges, Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa ruled on Tuesday.
He is represented by lawyer Stephen Chikotora.

The National Prosecuting Authority, which opposed bail, alleges that Mupinga owned four vicious dogs, including three pitbulls and a rottweiler.
On May 30, the prosecution charges, he negligently left his dogs unmuzzled at his rented house in New Bluffhill, Harare.
Mupinga’s dogs scaled over the short perimeter wall and met Samuel Machara who was walking on the road outside. The dogs bit Machara all over the body.
The victim suffered deep wounds on his neck, hands, legs and stomach leading to his death.
Mupinga’s white pitbull was found with blood stains when police arrived.
Rufaro Chonzi is prosecuting.
