President Mnangagwa has extended warm Christmas and New Year wishes to Zimbabweans at home and in the diaspora, calling for unity and renewed commitment to national development in 2026. The President also reiterated his message of discipline and safety on the roads as people travel for the holidays.

He stated that the gains recorded across all sectors of the economy in 2025 were worth celebrating.

“As we bid farewell to 2025, I am honoured to thank you, my fellow citizens, for the numerous milestones of success that we have achieved during the course of the year,” President Mnangagwa said.

Looking ahead to 2026, the President noted that hard work lies ahead and urged citizens to remain committed to the national vision of an inclusive Zimbabwe.

“As we take a break for the Christmas and New Year holidays, law enforcement agencies and the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, among other stakeholders, are urged to remain on high alert,” he said.

“The commuting public should equally exercise extreme caution on the roads.”

President Mnangagwa mentioned that the launch of the National Development Strategy 2 in the new year would be key to accelerating progress towards Vision 2030, stressing that the Zimbabwe envisioned by citizens must become a reality through collective effort. He also emphasised the importance of consolidating unity, peace, and social cohesion.

The President called for intensified efforts to combat drug and substance abuse, which he said was ravaging communities, particularly during the festive period. With the onset of the rainy season, he encouraged farmers to diligently work the land to ensure household and national food security.

“The rains are now upon us. Let us diligently work our God-given land to guarantee household and national food security,” he said.

“Meanwhile, all communities are encouraged to be aware of the dangers associated with the wet season, such as flash floods, drowning, and traffic accidents. We must maintain caution during periods of high rainfall. The Civil Protection Unit is on high alert.

“On behalf of the Government, my family, and indeed on my own behalf, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.”
