KWEKWE — Two people were killed and four others injured when a Govasberg bus collided head-on with a Hino Dutro truck on the highway linking Kwekwe and Gweru on Friday afternoon, police said.
The bus was carrying 65 congregants from the Happiness National Apostolic Faith Mission Holy Ghost who were going to Gokwe for a church service, while the truck which was heading towards Gweru had two occupants.
Witnesses said the collision happened at around 2PM when the bus driver allegedly encroached into the oncoming lane while avoiding a stationary haulage truck.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary for post-mortem, while the injured were admitted at Kwekwe General Hospital.
Police said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
