A HARARE woman claims her husband used part of her salary to spoil his second wife, including buying her a car.
This emerged after the couple’s dispute spilled into the Harare Civil Court.
Shalom Madziyendesa and her husband Tafadzwa Manyora are locked in a bitter dispute.
Shalom told the court:
“When Manyora abandoned me and the children, he stopped contributing to the household and l struggled to maintain that house on my own.
“All I want is fairness.
“Let him take responsibility for his choices without robbing me of my future. He has no right to come back now and demand a share when he left us to suffer.”
Manyora is a polygamist from Ushewokunze. Tafadzwa Manyora told magistrate Johanna Mukwesha that Madziyendesa took advantage of his time in Botswana to take ownership of their house.
“She took advantage of my absence while I was staying with my second wife in Botswana and claimed the house was hers alone,” said Manyora.
He added that she has been portraying him as an irresponsible father, who fails to take care of his children, in the neighbourhood. Manyora claimed that the dispute was now affecting him emotionally after threatened to poison his food.
“We built that house together and now she wants to kick me out as if I’m a tenant.”
Magistrate Mukwesha granted Manyora a protection order and advised the couple to seek legal help regarding their dispute over who owns the house.
