THE 22nd Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference, held in Mutare last week, endorsed the expulsion of five party members — including former Central Committee member Mr Blessed Geza — as part of 30 disciplinary cases presented for determination.

According to the Central Committee Report tabled by President Mnangagwa, the conference adopted various disciplinary outcomes, which included expulsions, suspensions, demotions, acquittals and cases referred back to provincial structures for further scrutiny.

In her report to the conference, Zanu PF national chairperson and head of the National Disciplinary Committee (NDC), Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, said her committee handled 30 cases during the review period, including two appeals, 28 of which were concluded.

Those expelled from the party include Mr Blessed Geza and Mr Gifford Gomwe, both from Mashonaland West Province, who were found guilty of undermining the authority of the President.

Others expelled were Mr Kudakwashe Gopi from Masvingo Province, and Messrs Victor Maningi and Spencer Mutero, both from Harare Province.

Chiredzi North legislator, Cde Roy Bhila of Masvingo Province, was acquitted after being charged with indiscipline.

Another case involving Cde Jonathan Shonhiwa of Masvingo Province was referred back to the Provincial Disciplinary Committee for further examination.

Two appeal cases — those of Cde Ratidzo Mukarati from Harare Province and Cde Rabson Mashulani from Masvingo Province — were referred to the Ad Hoc Appeals Committee of Congress. Cde Mukarati had appealed against a demotion, while Cde Mashulani challenged a three-year suspension.

Several other cadres had their suspensions confirmed by the conference.

Cde Kudakwashe Damson from Harare Province will serve a two-year suspension from holding any party position but remains a card-carrying member.

Similarly, Cde Godwin Gomwe, also from Harare Province, will serve a three-year suspension from holding office while retaining his membership in the party.

The conference also confirmed three-year suspensions for Cdes Emmanuel Juta, Nicole Mutapa, Blessing Kambumu, Denzel Romol, Edison Ringway, and Karen Maungehama, all from Harare Province.

In addition, Cdes Charles Matsika and Lameck Chimanyiwa had their one-year suspensions upheld, while Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa from Manicaland Province had her two-year suspension confirmed.

Meanwhile, all disciplinary cases originating from the Midlands Province were declared null and void due to procedural non-compliance.
