HARARE – A Chinese man believed to be the mastermind of an illegal cremation of a woman in Harare has been deported.
Chen Mo Yun, 44, was flown out of Harare last Wednesday.
In May this year, five Chinese nationals were fined US$200 each after they were convicted for unlawful cremation of Huang Tian Song without consent from her relatives.
Chen Ying, 44, Xia Wexing, 40, Guo Weilin, 32, Yan Qi, 36 and Wang Huasheng, aged 35, were immediately deported to China.
Now ZimLive has been informed that the five were further interrogated in China and implicated Yun as the mastermind, going further to suggest he was running a mafia-style operation in Harare.
Yun was deported at the request of Chinese investigators.
Huang Tian Song died mysteriously at Trauma Centre in Borrowdale, Harare, on May 22.
A court heard that the five men who were fined over the illegal cremation connived and obtained a burial order after falsely claiming they had permission from her family.
It remains unclear what the men were trying to hide by cremating Song’s body.
