JOHANNESBURG – A Zimbabwean businessman based in South Africa Ranga Gova, 35, is missing after he was hijacked and kidnapped in Midstream Mediclinic Centurion between Pretoria and Midrad.
Gova was kidnapped just a few minutes away from his home in an upmarket residential estate while driving his wife’s car on Thursday, 3 November.
“He was last seen at 19:56 hours wearing a golf attire,” a poster about his disappearance stated.
An Uber driver and a security guard witnessed the ordeal.
The kidnapped Zimbabwean businessman’s wife Mamelo said the incident was caught on CCTV cameras.
The footage shows Gova driving a grey Mercedez-Benz CLA200D. He stops at the traffic lights and a vehicle stops next to him while a second parks behind him.
The suspects exit their cars and Gova is grabbed and bundled into a silver vehicle parked next to his car.
The driver then makes a U-turn and drives off. A man gets into the Mercedes and the second vehicle speeds off.
According to accounts, the family does not have suspects of who might have kidnapped Gova.
“As far as I know, from primary, secondary and even at university, he has never had any squabbles with anyone even his friends can vouch for him,” said Otolia Gova his mother.
Mamelo said that on Saturday they recovered the car a short distance from their estate. Olifantsfontein police are investigating a case of kidnapping.
In June, this year, another Zimbabwean by the name of Brian Tswatswa disappeared, he was last seen on 28 May 2022 in Krugersdorp, South Africa.
