HARARE – A man died in police custody after a two-hour fight with a fellow detainee at Glen Norah Police Station in the early hours of Tuesday, with officers on duty allegedly refusing to intervene, ZimLive has learnt.
A law enforcement source said: “The fight went on for a long time, and the officers on duty unfortunately failed to intervene leading to the death of the suspect.”
The matter is set to be referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
National police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he would issue a statement on Thursday.
