HARARE – South Africa’s Airlink is set to launch daily direct return flights linking Johannesburg and Victoria Falls starting 15 August 2022, the transporter announced on Monday.
The privately-owned regional airline flights will operate using a modern 98-seat Embraer E-190 jetliner which is set to depart Johannesburg at 11.30 and touch down in Victoria Falls at 13.15 daily.
The jetliner will also depart Victoria Falls at 13.55 and arrive back in Johannesburg at 15.35.
Direct flights will operate with complimentary on-board catering and all-inclusive baggage allowances.
Airlink CEO and Managing Director, Rodger Foster is quoted in the airliner’s website saying Victoria Falls is a jewel in the region’s tourism crown adding that the air transporter was excited about re-establishing connectivity between the world renowned natural attraction and Johannesburg.
“This brand new Airlink route will be our second to Victoria Falls, which we already serve from Cape Town,” Foster said.
“In addition, we provide direct flights connecting Harare with Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban and between Bulawayo and Johannesburg.
“With the recent introduction of long-haul flights from Europe directly to Victoria Falls, our services allow customers arriving on those flights to conveniently include South African destinations in their travel plans,” said Foster.
Johannesburg, Southern Africa’s economic hub, is a transit point for many international and regional airlines while the iconic Victoria Falls is arguably the region’s prime tourist destination.
Airlink is a regional airline serving a comprehensive network of more than 45 destinations throughout Southern Africa offering our customers more freedom, more choices, and more travel opportunities with more connectivity than any other airline in Southern Africa.
It is the second-largest carrier within Africa by number of flights, and third-largest by number of seats.
