Binga horror crash claims four, injures nine

BINGA – Four people died Thursday while nine others were injured when a Department of Roads vehicle veered off the road and overturned in Siabuwa, Matabeleland North.

Police confirmed the tragic incident on Friday.

“The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred along the Siabuzuba-Siabuwa Road on 15/09/22 at around 1600 hours.

“Four people died while nine others were injured, after a motorist who was driving an Isuzu single cab truck with 12 passengers on board, lost control of the car before it overturned and landed on its roof,” said the ZRP via its Twitter handle.

Police said names of victims were going to be announced after the identification process was complete.

According to Chief Siabuwa, the vehicle involved in the fatal crash was coming from the direction of Siabuwa going towards Binga.

The accident happened at Sijalila Forest turn off near Nsungwale.

The vehicle is said it veered off the road and missed a tree before falling on its side and overturning,” said Chief Siabuwa.

One of the victims was the Chief’s cousin.
