Dynamos vow to defy PSL ban on anti-juju team manager

HARARE – Dynamos Football Club has vowed to defy a recent Premier Soccer League (PSL) ban on team manager Richard Chihoro arguing the sanctions imposed on the superstitious official violated laid down football statutes.

Chihoro got his marching orders for alleged misconduct after he sprinkled some unknown substance within a Barbourfields Stadium goal area during the half time period of last Saturday’s premiership clash with Hwange FC.

The ritual, also captured on phone video, was performed ostensibly to render as ineffective, some juju allegedly planted by opponents to prevent Dynamos from scoring.

Chihoro was suspended from his duties pending a hearing 5 April this year.

Under sanctions imposed, the long serving Dembare official was ordered not to be anywhere near the team bus, technical dug-out and changing rooms until the matter was finalised.

But Dynamos finds everything wrong with the directive and have insisted their official shall continue carrying out his duties until he is properly sanctioned.

“The PSL secretariat did not act professionally in handling the matter as they rushed to the media before serving the accused with the summonses per standard practice,” said Dynamos in a Friday statement.

The Harare giants said the “PSL secretariat wilfully usurped the powers of the judicial bodies of football” through its summary suspension of the official.

“Such an order must come from a competent judicial body and not the secretariat,” Dynamos said.

The team was adamant Chihoro shall continue performing his job until he was properly sanctioned by the football governing body.

“…Mr Chihoro remains an employee of Dynamos Football Club and that he will be expected to carry out his duties as per his contract with the club until such a time that a judicial determination makes such pronouncement.

“Dynamos Football Club shall not comply with unlawful instructions coming from officers of the league.”

The team was also sanctioned for the Bulawayo incident and has committed to attending the disciplinary hearing.
