Esidakeni directors sound alarm over Obert Mpofu attacks

HARARE – Directors of a productive Nyamandlovu farm at the centre of a fierce ownership row with Obert Mpofu have raised alarm over continued acts of intimidation by the Zanu PF secretary of administration

The three directors of Kershelmar Farms (Private) Limited are Charles Moyo, Siphosami Malunga and Zephaniah Dhlamini.

Malunga said Thursday the former Mines Minister was working with the country’s dreaded state agents to harass them for daring to put a fight for a property they acquired from their own savings.

The farm was later parcelled out to Obert Mpofu and a handful connected individuals under government offer letters that have been successfully challenged within the courts.

In a number of updates sent via his Twitter handle, Malunga has reported continued intimidation allegedly by the powerful Zanu PF politician, the latest being the poisoning of Moyo’s dogs.

“Last night they poisoned Esidakeni Director Charles Moyo’s vicious dogs. One has died & the other is critically ill. The Deputy Sheriff served the eviction on Obert Mpofu yesterday. It’s clear that together with CIO they’ve decided to physically harm us. We are not afraid,” Malunga said.

Earlier, Dhlamini has also complained of having his electric gate vandalised on the night between 16 and 17 August.

He was defiant, “It will not work. We are not intimidated!”

The 3 directors were arrested last weekend and taken to court on charges of continuously occupying a farm that was gazetted by government in 2020.

Police have ignored the Supreme Court ruling which suspended the offer letters and ordered the eviction of the invaders.

Malunga and his colleagues were each granted ZWL$10 000 bail after appearing before a Tsholotsho magistrate on Monday.

Their trial was set for 6 September this year.

On the evening when they were in court, Mpofu is alleged to have returned to Esidakeni farm and also re-installed his armed guards, all in defiance of High Court and Supreme Court orders.
