Ex-convict nabbed for fresh armed robbery case

HARARE – An unrepentant criminal who was once jailed for burglary until November last year, has been arrested on a fresh charge involving armed robbery.

Mayor Dzorani, 40, is among three suspects arrested by police in connection with armed robbery which occurred in Hurungwe recently.

The incident was confirmed by police on Saturday.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Martin Jameson (44) alias Mathew Chimukonde, Anymore Dumbura (42) and Mayor Dzorani (40), in connection with a case of armed robbery which occurred at a shop at Mudzimu Business Centre, Hurungwe, where six cellphones and US$35 cash were stolen,” police said via their social media handles weekend.

“The arrest led to the recovery of a 0.22 revolver with 24 rounds, a scissors, car jack, wheel spanner, and a hammer.

“Investigations carried out by the police have revealed that Martin Jameson is out on remand for cases of robbery and unlawful entry into premises and theft which occurred in Karoi, while Mayor Dzorani was released from prison in November 2022 after being convicted for a case of unlawful entry.”
