Gold buyer ushers suspects into own home, robbed of US$35,000

BULAWAYO – Two armed robbery suspects ushered Tuesday into a gold buyer’s home on the pretext they had come to sell the precious mineral to him, produced guns and robbed the dealer of US$35,000 cash.

Police in Bulawayo confirmed the incident and further called on anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.

The gold buyer, who is a registered dealer, was allegedly deceived by two suspects who had indicated they wanted to sell 50 grams of the mineral.

However, upon entering his home, the suspects who were armed with unidentified firearms, robbed the gold buyer of his cash and further lifted his home’s main gate remote and a CCTV HDI server making it harder to identify them.

“The ZRP is appealing for information which may assist in the investigations of a case of armed robbery which occurred on 22/11/22 at around 1235hours at a certain house along Haymen Road, Bulawayo.

“Anyone with information to contact Bulawayo Operations on (0292) 885479 or National Complaints Desk on (024) 703631 or PGHQ Whatsapp on 0712 800 197,” said the police in a statement.
