THE allocation of residential stands at Dunnotar Farm in Seke, under the Munhumutapa Housing Programme, will start next month as the land developer makes final touches, with the youth from Mashonaland East Province constituting the majority of beneficiaries.

The land developer, Leengate Civil Engineering, said developments on the land for the first phase were 90 percent  complete.

Significant progress has been made on the water and sewer reticulation, while about 5km of the roads are now primed and will be surfaced starting from next week.

Besides the youth, war veterans are also set to benefit from this scheme, which is spearheaded by the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.

In an interview with Zimpapers, site supervisor Engineer Patson Masiiwa of Leengate Civil Engineering said: “We are focusing on the first phase of the project which has a road network of about 20km as well as a total of 1 500 residential stands. In terms of road works, major works are at an advanced stage, we have managed above 90 percent.

“We have already started priming of these roads and next week we should be starting surfacing.

“In terms of water and sewer reticulation we are around 90 percent in terms of progress.

“So we are expecting that by the end of this month, major works should be done. We are also constructing a bridge nearby with works now around 80 percent and we expect to complete it by end of this month.

“Works on the second phase have already commenced.”

Youths from Mashonaland East applauded the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa for the gesture.

Mr Nefterry Mutizira, who is the ZANU PF vice chairman for Mashonaland East Youth League, said: “To President Mnangagwa, I want to say, the youth in Mashonaland East is happy and is appreciating everything that you are doing for their benefit. We will continue to be responsible citizens and contribute to the development of Zimbabwe tirelessly.”
