Indonesia said it “reaffirms its strong commitment to deepening economic and trade relations” with Zimbabwe, in line with the country’s “Open for Business” policy.HARARE, Apr. 22 (NewsDay Live) – Indonesia has signalled plans to broaden its economic footprint in Zimbabwe as the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) gets underway this week, highlighting growing bilateral trade ambitions.
In a statement, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia said it “reaffirms its strong commitment to deepening economic and trade relations” with Zimbabwe, in line with the country’s “Open for Business” policy.
“As part of this commitment, Indonesia will participate in the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) 2026 in Bulawayo, marking another milestone in its longstanding presence at one of the region’s premier trade exhibitions,” the embassy said.
This year, Indonesia has introduced the participation of PT Wings Corp Indonesia into the Zimbabwean market, signalling intent to expand private sector investment.
The embassy added it had facilitated a partnership between PT Dami Sariwana and Kumbucha Pvt Ltd, which will be showcased during the fair.
“This collaboration represents a tangible step toward industrial cooperation and value creation between the two nations,” the statement read.
Several Indonesian firms spanning food processing, pharmaceuticals and textiles are also expected to exhibit at ZITF.
Indonesia said it views Zimbabwe as a strategic gateway into regional markets, particularly within Southern Africa, and is keen to leverage platforms such as ZITF to unlock investment flows.
“Indonesia believes that Zimbabwe holds immense potential as a gateway to regional markets, and remains committed to walking hand in hand with Zimbabwe in unlocking shared economic growth and prosperity,” the embassy said.
