HARARE – Zimbabwe international Tino Kadewere has joined Spanish La Liga side Real Mallorca on loan from Fresh side Lyon.
The striker said he was “proud to be here” after he was unveiled in Real Mallorca colours on Monday.
“To be honest, I’m very excited, happy and proud. It’s a unique moment for me,” Kadewere said.
Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Real Mallorca have an option to buy for around US$10 million.
Kadewere joined Lyon from Le Havre for a reported fee of US$14 million.
After a blistering start to life in Lyon, the Zimbabwean increasingly became an unused substitute.
Before signing for Mallorca, he was reportedly being tracked by Valladolid, Brest, Nantes and Strasbourg.
The 26-year-old however appears to have been more attracted by Mallorca, who have picked up four points from their first three matches this season.
“I’ve been watching the last few games and I really like the way the team plays. I’m a team player, a footballer who always tries to help the team, I always try to do what’s best for the group,” Kadewere said.
