Man knifed to death in row over whisky, another murdered over US$2

KEZI – A row over a bottle of whisky Thursday ended in tragedy for a Kezi man who died after being stabbed three times with an okapi knife by a bar attendant.

Police said Saturday they have arrested Wilson Mugandi in connection with the incident.

“Police in Kezi have arrested a bar attendant, Wilson Mugandi (25) in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 22/12/22 at a bar at Donkwe Donkwe Business Centre,” police reported via their official Twitter handle.

“The suspect stabbed the victim, Mduduzi Moyo (21), with an okapi knife on the chest, thigh and waist after alleging that the victim had attacked him using a catapult before stealing a bottle of whisky from the bar.”

The incident follows another beer drink row in which another 21-year-old Karoi man was Tuesday killed by a 24-year-old assailant following a dispute over US$2.

Police said they were “investigating a case of murder in which the victim Norman Chikoka (21) died on 20/12/22 upon admission at Karoi Hospital after being struck with a log on the head by the suspect,  Bonwell  Mereki (24) following an argument over US$2.00, during a beer drinking spree at Gindikindi Business Centre, Kazangarare”.
