Norman Mapeza leaves FC Platinum after a decade in charge

ZVISHAVANE – FC Platinum on Sunday confirmed the departure of long-serving coach Norman Mapeza, ending a remarkable 10-year spell in which he delivered three league titles and cemented the club as a dominant force in Zimbabwean football.

The 53-year-old announced his exit after a 0-0 draw against Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium, the final match of the 2025 Premier League season.

“Everything comes to an end,” an emotional Mapeza said. He reflected with particular pride on the 2018 and 2022 title-winning campaigns, where FC Platinum finished with 78 points and 72 points respectively — tallies unmatched in local football since 2015.

“I don’t want to praise myself but I think I left something in Zvishavane. There is something to talk about, about this club. There is an identity about this club,” he said.

In a farewell message, FC Platinum said “Muchina weMajuzi remains a legendary figure in the story of FC Platinum.”

Mapeza is rumoured to be in talks with newly-promoted Hardrock FC, who are based in Kwekwe, about taking over as head coach for the 2026 season.
