THE City of Harare’s 1945th  Ordinary council meeting yesterday discussed interviews for senior officials, for the planning and the human resources departments.

In an interview, Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume said the full council meeting held at the townhouse also dealt with the implementation of the Enterprise Resource Planning  (ERP) system, the progress of the prepaid water meters.

“We also dealt with financial issues, the implementation of the ERP, the progress of the water meters we are now up to 40 000, the progress of the quick wins in terms of the water, our issues around waste management, particularly Amalinda pipe works that go to Firle (Sewage Treatment Works) to stop water flowing into Lake Chivero and Mukuvisi,” he said.

“We also dealt with a number of issues relating to business progress around our business units, their contribution to the city, particularly issues around traffic lights and lighting.  We dealt with security issues in neighbourhoods where there are gangs of armed robbers targeting people, who need to be stopped.

“We also thanked the Government for the assistance they have given us so far. And we have also touched on various trips that we have gone to this year, to Ethiopia and Kenya. This has been useful as a learning curve for the city council.”
